Jagadish built farmhouses with ill-gotten money, allege Cong MLCs

Hyderabad: Government Whips in the Council Dr Balmuri Venkat and Addanki Dayakar alleged that former minister and BRS MLA G Jagadish Reddy accumulated hundreds of acres of land over the past decade and that his farmhouses were constructed using funds allegedly generated through irregularities in Chhattisgarh power agreements.

The Congress leaders warned that there would be no tolerance for the alleged misappropriation of public funds or encroachment of lands belonging to the poor. They said strict action would be taken against anyone found responsible following a detailed inquiry. Addressing the media during a field visit, Venkat alleged that Jagadish Reddy had also amassed substantial wealth in connection with the Yadadri Power Plant Project. He questioned how the former minister was able to acquire extensive properties within a period of about 10 years.

According to Venkat, the alleged land dealings extended from Suryapet to Hyderabad and further into Karnataka, including areas around Bidar and Hampi. He further alleged that hundreds of acres had been illegally acquired and that Inam lands originally allocated to poor beneficiaries were also taken over.

Venkat said the field visit was organised to bring the alleged land irregularities and misuse of political power during Jagadish Reddy’s tenure as Power Minister to the attention of the public. He said the Congress government was committed to identifying lands allegedly acquired illegally and taking steps to restore them to eligible beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, Government Whip and MLC Dr Addanki Dayakar warned that no individual, irrespective of political stature, would be spared if found guilty of misappropriating public assets or encroaching on lands belonging to the poor.

Dayakar alleged that several BRS leaders had misused their political positions to acquire lands belonging to poor people and government Inam lands. He said a comprehensive inquiry would be conducted into alleged land irregularities involving BRS leaders and that legal action would follow against those found responsible.

He further stated that lands found to have been illegally occupied would be recovered in accordance with the law and restored to eligible beneficiaries. The Congress government, he said, would stand by affected people and work to ensure justice.
