Hyderabad: The Congress government will take action against the alleged diversion of Kaleshwaram project water to former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s farmhouse and initiate action against irrigation officials found negligent, Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy said on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, the Congress MP alleged that the Kondapochamma Sagar project and the Erravalli Lift Irrigation scheme were being used to supply water to KCR’s farmhouse. He claimed that a 58-acre reservoir, Panduranga Cheruvu, had been excavated near the farmhouse in 2017 and that water was being diverted to a three-acre well within its premises.
He also alleged that public funds amounting to Rs 42.54 crore had been provided as a 100 per cent subsidy for installing a drip irrigation system at the farmhouse. He questioned how the property continued to have access to water amid concerns over its availability during the El Niño phenomenon.
