Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi Working President KT Rama Rao on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Congress administration in Telangana, alleging a criminal mindset behind the manhandling of former ministers Sabitha Indra Reddy and Sunitha Lakshma Reddy.
Addressing the media at Bowenpally Police Station following his detention, KT Rama Rao termed it the misfortune of Telangana citizens that a Chief Minister with such an approach had assumed power.
He alleged that police personnel surrounded, dragged, and manhandled women leaders, calling the incident a Dushasana episode and demanding an immediate apology from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy alongside strict action against responsible officers. KT Rama Rao was detained by Telangana Police alongside other opposition leaders amid mounting tensions over their planned movement towards former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao residence at Erravelli.
He pointed out that while opposition leaders faced police blockades and detentions, ruling party workers were permitted to move towards Erravelli under direct police escort. The BRS leader expressed strong anger over alleged remarks by ruling party legislators wishing for the death of Chandrashekar Rao.
Turning his critique towards electoral pledges, KT Rama Rao described the Congress manifesto as the biggest fraud of the century, questioning the government over its failure to fulfill six guarantees and numerous campaign assurances.
He emphasised that marginalized communities including SCs, STs, BCs, minorities, and economically weaker sections continue to await the implementation of promised welfare schemes.
KT Rama Rao accused the administration of attempting to silence opposition voices by suspending and expelling BRS MLCs, strongly objecting to the arrest of two party legislators following the registration of cases under the SC ST Act. Reaffirming that the BRS retains complete faith in democracy, the Constitution, and the judiciary, he accused the ruling government of displaying utter disregard for constitutional principles, democratic institutions, and the rule of law across Telangana while suppressing political dissent.
