Basheerbagh: The chairman of South India Advocates' JAC, Prof Gali Vinod Kumar, has demanded that the Central government establish Supreme Court benches in four regions of the country. He was speaking at a meeting convened here in Press Club on Thursday.

Speaking at the meeting, Vinod Kumar demanded that the central government establish four additional Supreme Court benches at Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kolkata for speedy justice. JAC convener S Nagender demanded immediate implementation of Parliamentary Committee report on division of Supreme Court benches.

Telangana Bar Council chairman said various commissions and reports in this regard have recommended the division of the Supreme court into appellate benches.

He also cited Article 130 of the Indian constitution which also allows establishment of additional benches of Supreme Court in other regions of the country. Various speakers emphasised the need for establishing additional benches in various regions of the country for speedy trials.

Among those who spoke on the occasion include advocates Satish Kumar, Damodar Rao, Bhanumurthy, Ambedkar, Sudarshan, Yadagiri, LR Murthy, CN Reddy and others.
