Parents told to keep tabs on mobile use by wards

Patancheru: Prominent psychologist Asha Suhasini has cautioned patents against the use of smart phones by students. She described confidence of student as a stepping stone for successful future, while addressing a 'Family Fun Day' function in Vignan University on the outskirts of Peddakanjarla village on Saturday.

She also advised parents not make comparative study of their children with others, while cautioning that that science and technology knowledge should not become a hindrance to family relations. Giving tips on effective parenting, she spoke out against the rising trend of parents handing over smartphone to their children so that they don't become a stumbling block to their works.

"The parents forget that such practices become an hindrance to studies," she stated, while expressing anguish. Suhasini suggested that parents should spend some quality time with their children daily, so that it makes them happy.

During the function, various sporting competitions/demonstrations were organised for students of pre-primary to VIIl class. Skits on moral values were organised by parents for students of classes I to IV and appreciated by the audience.

Principal Padma stated that the function was conducted to drive home the message that how students could be made happy with parents spending quality time daily with their children. While competitions in badminton, balloon, 'blind cup' were organised for parents, games like 'Ashta-Chamma', 'Puli Judam' , '0 Mana Gunthalu' were conducted for children. Both parents and students expressed happiness over the family fun day celebrations.
