FOBs on the bustling stretch need of the hour

Picturesque Tank Bund turns a dangerous zone
It is painful to read about accidents on the main road along the Hussain Sagar, which is popular among residents as Tank Bund. Many families have lost their near and dear ones while crossing the road on some part of the stretch. On one side of this road there are statues of famous personalities with a lot of greenery; whereas, on the other side, there are benches for visitors to enjoy the evening cool breeze with their family members and friends.
Ironically, there is no pedestrian crossing or foot over bridge (FOB)on this crucial road connecting Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Recently an innocent girl and her father died in a mishap on her birthday while they were crossing from one side to other.
A few months back Pelican crossings were installed with much fanfare on the Tank Bund, though they have hardly been used.
The concerned authorities must sit together and plan installation of FOBs at more than one spot on the road so no one loses their life while crossing. Big corporate groups must come forward to support this humanitarian cause by sponsoring the FOBs on the Tank Bund.
A stitch in time saves nine. Ab koi ghar na ujde - no one must lose their father, mother, son, daughter, friend or colleague in an accident.
As for motorists, they must always think that someone is waiting for them at home; so also, for others. Drive safely.
