Radhashtami celebrated grandly

Hyderabad: Sri Radhashtami was grandly celebrated at Hare Krishna Golden Temple in Banjara Hills on Sunday to mark the divine appearance of Srimati Radha Rani, with scores of devotees visiting the temple to receive blessings. From dawn, the Sri Radha Govinda deities offered a special darshan, adorned in splendid nava vasthras and exquisite jewellery, while altars were decorated with vibrant, fragrant flowers. The evening featured the auspicious 108 Kalasha Sri Radha Govinda Abhishekam, performed by dedicated pujaris amidst Vedic chanting and Harinama Sankirtana melodies. During the abhishekam, the deities were bathed in panchamrita, panchagavya, fruit juices, rare herbal powders, select flowers, and special aushadhis with deep devotion. Devotees rendered a moving performance of the Radhe Radhe song to delight their Lordships.

A sumptuous Chappan Bhog consisting of 56 food varieties was offered, followed by a Raja Bhoga Arathi in the afternoon. In a special pravachan, Hare Krishna Movement Hyderabad president Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa highlighted the significance of Radhashtami, which falls on the eighth day of the bright fortnight in the month of Bhadrapada.

He explained that Srimati Radharani is revered as the Mother of the Universe, and devotees pray on this day to receive Krishna bhakti. A multitude of meticulous sevas were performed throughout the day to delight the deities, including Shodashopacharams, Shringara Arathi, Raja Bhog Arati, Sandhya Arati, Maha Abhishekam, Jhulan Seva, Maha Pallaki Seva, Shayana Arati, and Ekanta Seva. Devotees participated enthusiastically in all ritualistic offerings, concluding the grand celebration in deep spiritual fervor and collective harmony.
