Hyderabad: In a significant step towards enhancing the security, durability and reliability of government documents, the State government has introduced a new generation of security paper for Meeseva certificates.

Specially designed to resist tearing and withstand exposure to water, the new paper was launched by Minister for IT and Industries, D. Sridhar Babu, at Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

MLAs Raj Thakur and Vijay Ramana Rao, Electronic Service Delivery (ESD) Commissioner T. Ravi Kiran, officials, printing agencies and representatives of service organisations attended the launch.

The new Meeseva certificate paper incorporates 15 advanced security features designed to prevent the production of counterfeit certificates and unauthorised duplication. Details of these features have been withheld for security reasons.

Manufactured using specialised technology, the new paper is designed to be highly resistant to tearing and damage caused by water. It also offers greater resilience against wear and tear arising from routine handling, folding and long-term storage.

The enhanced durability will enable citizens to preserve important certificates in good condition for years. Under normal conditions, the improved paper is also expected to reduce the need for lamination, offering greater convenience to citizens while helping protect their documents over the long term. Speaking on the occasion, Minister D. Sridhar Babu said that certificates issued by the government, including birth and death certificates and documents required for educational, employment and other official purposes, play a crucial role in people’s lives. “Many government certificates are documents that citizens need to preserve for decades, and sometimes throughout their lifetime. It is the government’s responsibility to ensure that these documents remain durable, secure and reliable,” the Minister said.

Sridhar Babu emphasised that the Telangana government was leveraging modern technology to improve the quality, security and convenience of public services.

The introduction of the new security paper would not only enhance the durability of certificates but also strengthen safeguards against forgery and counterfeiting, he said.
