TG Govt eyes revenue windfall through land auctions
Hyderabad: Eyeing for more revenue generation, the state government has taken a slew of important decisions, which included focusing on land pooling, industrial land regularisation and efficient utilisation of government assets. The government also decided to achieve weekly targets to ensure timely processing of applications.
At the meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Mobilisation of the Resources here on Friday, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka instructed the officials to expedite unit-wise regularisation and approval processes in industrial areas such as Azamabad, Balanagar and Hafeezpet.
Proposals relating to B-category and micro industrial units should be examined comprehensively, ensuring benefits to industrial entrepreneurs while generating additional revenue for the government, he said.
The meeting reviewed weekly targets for processing applications within defined timelines and assigning clear responsibilities to the officials concerned. The sub- committee also held detailed discussions on land pooling, availability of land for future requirements and the mobilisation of land resources in the rapidly developing areas surrounding Hyderabad, particularly Medchal and Rangareddy districts. He directed officials to prepare weekly action plans and regularly review the progress to ensure the achievement of the prescribed targets.
The Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed the possibilities of generating revenue through the development and auction of lands under the jurisdiction of HMDA and TGIIC.
He instructed officials to identify suitable layouts for auction, prioritise locations with good connectivity to major roads and development potential, and initiate the auction process in a phased manner.
He directed the departments concerned to come up with a clear action plan by next week, outlining the details of lands, the status of layouts, plots ready for auction and the progress of preparatory activities.
The Deputy Chief Minister also directed officials to formulate a clear policy for utilising the government's share of land obtained through land pooling for specific public purposes.
Issues relating to assigned lands should also be examined comprehensively in accordance with legal provisions and public interest, and appropriate proposals should be placed before the Cabinet for consideration.
