Telangana State govt urged to conduct TET exam
Hundreds of unemployed youth staged a protest at the Basheerbagh crossroads here on Thursday demanding the State government to conduct TET exam and fill teachers’ vacancies in government schools.
Basheerbagh: Hundreds of unemployed youth staged a protest at the Basheerbagh crossroads here on Thursday demanding the State government to conduct TET exam and fill teachers' vacancies in government schools. Chairman of Unemployed-JAC Venkatesh and national vice-president of BC Welfare Association Gujja Krishna led the unemployed protestors. They tried to lay siege to the school education office but were foiled by police.
Speaking to media on the occasion, Venkatesh criticised the State government for not conducting TET exams for the last seven years. He alleged that the State government was deliberately trying to destroy the education system in the State. While there were about 50,000 teacher vacancies in the State, notification was given only for recruiting 8,792 posts, but even those posts were not filled so far, he added.
Venkatesh accused the State government of fudging the number of teacher vacancies. In the year 2014 itself, there were 25,600 vacant posts according to the then Finance Minister Eatela Rajender and at least 25,000 teachers had retired in the last five years, taking the total figure up to 50,000, but the State government has given notification only for 8,792 posts, which is unfortunate, he lamented. He demanded the state government to conduct TET examination at the earliest to fill up all the vacant teacher posts.
Several leaders of the Backward Classes like E Venkatesh, Gujja Krishna, Nanda Gopal, Anji, Vemula Ramakrishna, Narsimha Naik, Bandari Srinivas, and others participated in the protest.
