Fourteen trainee officers from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh who are undergoing basic training at Academy of Prisons and Correctional Administration, Vellore, visited Central Prison at Chanchalguda in City.

Chanchalguda: Fourteen trainee officers from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh who are undergoing basic training at Academy of Prisons and Correctional Administration, Vellore, visited Central Prison at Chanchalguda in City.

According to the officials of Central Prison, as part of exposure visit, K Arjuna Rao, Superintendent of Prisons, accompanied the visiting officers and explained the daily routine of inmates and the ongoing welfare activities which are implementing to the reintegration of inmates as part of 'Maha Parivartan,' which was initiated by V K Singh, the DG of Prisons, after the formation of Telangana.

This project aims at providing jobs to prisoners with good conduct, after their release from jails. The department acts like placement agency to rehabilitate the reformed prisoners by ensuring they secure jobs in different fields like driving heavy vehicles, video recording, computer applications, electrical work and wall painting.

Dr D. Srinivas, Deputy Superintendent of Prisons, A Venkatesham, V Shashi Kanth, Jailors, and Deputy Jailors, other jail officials and staff were present.
