Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said fertiliser distribution across Telangana has been highly successful during the ongoing Kharif season. He attributed the achievement to advance stock positioning, swift shipment handling, and digital monitoring via the fertiliser app.

The minister said on Tuesday that concerted efforts were being made to prioritise fertiliser availability before the season began. Special officers were deployed at shipyards and were coordinating continuously with the Centre to ensure timely arrival of imported fertilisers. He said, “We made sure shipments were not delayed, and fertilisers reached the state promptly.”

The minister attributed this to digital oversight through the fertiliser app, which enabled real-time tracking of fertiliser stocks and sales and ensured transparency. He added that the state-developed urea app helped curb illegal storage and black marketing, making urea distribution more transparent. Following its success, the Central Government rolled out the National Fertiliser App, though initial technical issues—such as incomplete mapping of revenue villages—arose. The Minister assured that these are being resolved in coordination with relevant authorities.

According to the Minister, 33.39 lakh farmers registered for fertilisers through the app this Kharif, booking 142.08 lakh bags; of these, 128.18 lakh bags have already been purchased. On the central FFS app, 37.48 lakh QR codes were generated, and 104.99 lakh bags were purchased.

Comparing monsoon sales over three years, he said that urea sales stood at 9.44 lakh MT in 2026-27. This was slightly lower than the previous seasons. Other fertilisers like DAP, complex, MOP, and SSP showed mixed trends. Still, the Minister highlighted that effective app-based distribution curbed illegal stocks and reduced urea usage by 35,000 tons compared to last year.

Current fertiliser stocks are strong, with 2.33 lakh MT of urea available—up from just 0.50 lakh MT last year. DAP, complex, MOP, and SSP stocks are similarly robust. For October, a supply plan of 2 lakh MT of urea is in place, with 0.18 lakh MT already supplied.

The Minister also noted Telangana’s leadership in digital farmers’ registry and crop surveys, enabling precise, targeted delivery of government agricultural schemes. As of now, 75.9% of the state’s digital crop survey is complete, putting Telangana at the forefront of digital agricultural management.
