Uttam Calls for Strong Industry–Youth Interface to Tackle Rural Unemployment

Hyderabad/ Suryapet : Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday called for building a strong and sustained interface between educated unemployed youth and major industries, saying the disconnect between rural talent and organised employment opportunities had emerged as a major challenge that needed to be addressed systematically.
Addressing representatives of participating companies and over 100 educational in educational, local officials at a preparatory meeting for the Mega Job Mela scheduled at Kodad on September 19, Uttam said unemployment among educated youth was one of the most serious problems confronting society, with the situation particularly difficult for young people from villages. “If rural youth cannot easily reach major companies, we must bring the companies closer to rural youth. That is the purpose of this Mega Job Mela,” Uttam said.
He said the September 19 event was being conceived as a common recruitment platform where industry demand would directly meet rural talent, enabling qualified youngsters to interact with multiple employers and compete for jobs under one roof. Around 300 companies had been invited to participate in the Kodad Mega Job Mela, compared with more than 200 companies that participated in the previous job mela organised at Huzurnagar last year.
Major companies from Hyderabad and other industrial centres, besides industries operating across the erstwhile Nalgonda district, were being mobilised. Apollo Group, GMR, Ramky and Mahindra & Mahindra, besides cement companies and other industrial and business establishments, were among the major employers being approached or expected to participate.
