Hyderabad: Vice President CP Radhakrishnan will be the chief guest at the 79th celebrations of Hyderabad Liberation Day to be held at the Secunderabad Parade Grounds on September 17.
State Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Union Minister of Culture & Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, State BJP chief N Ramachander Rao and Member of Parliament Etala Rajender will be the guests at the programme.
The celebrations will include a special parade by paramilitary forces, a demonstration of cultural artefacts and performances, and specially choreographed theme-based ballet and patriotic cultural shows.
The atrocities of Nizam rule and the bravery of the Indian Army in 1948 would be showcased in an exhibition, he said. September 17 is very special for Telangana as the region got freedom on that day in 1948. Also, September 17 is the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vishwa Karma Jayanti, he said.
Marking the occasion, the Union Ministry of Culture and the Salar Jung Museum, Hyderabad, are organising the “Hyderabad Liberation Day - Inter-School Quiz” as part of the 79th Hyderabad Liberation Day celebrations on September 16.
Schools from across Hyderabad can participate; it is organised for students in grades 6 to 8. The winners will be felicitated by Vice President of India on September 17at the Parade Ground during the Liberation Day celebrations.
