Kadapa: The State government is taking a major stride towards providing safe drinking water to every household in rural Andhra Pradesh with the State-level launch of ‘Jal Jeevan Mission - Amarajeevi Jaladhara’ programme in Proddatur on Monday. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan will unveil the pylon and lay foundation stones.

Designed as a massive infrastructure initiative spanning 50,315 works at an outlay of Rs 30,156.12 crore, the programme aims to supply 55 liters of safe drinking water per person daily through individual taps.

While 61.60 lakh households already have connections, the new initiative will provide 27.36 lakh additional tap connections across 24,601 habitations, directly benefiting 3.27 crore rural residents.

The investment comprises Rs 9,068.94 crore for single village schemes, Rs 19,462.39 crore for multi-village projects, and Rs 1,624.79 crore for water quality monitoring.

Large-scale multi-village projects will source water from major reservoirs—such as PABR, Velugodu-Onkaram, and Gandikota—supplying it through 77,243 kilometers of new pipelines, 1,426 MLD water treatment plants, and 14,995 storage structures.

Access to safe drinking water will alleviate the burden on women and children while ensuring long-term regional water security.

Ministers, senior officials, and alliance leaders will participate, bringing a festive atmosphere to Proddatur.
