Karimnagar: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday accused the Congress of having a “patent” on vote and seat theft, alleging that the party had a history of manipulating political mandates.

Speaking to the media after a ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha’ held as part of the BJP’s ‘Seva Jyothi’ programme in Karimnagar, he referred to the 1946 Congress process for selecting the first Prime Minister and claimed that several Pradesh Congress Committees had supported Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, while Jawaharlal Nehru was eventually chosen.

On the Election Commission controversy, Bandi Sanjay said the poll panel was a constitutional body and not a BJP organisation. He said any allegations against the Chief Election Commissioner should be settled through the courts.

He also questioned the Congress’s opposition to the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, stating that the exercise was aimed at removing ineligible and duplicate names.

He alleged that the Congress and BRS were maintaining an understanding in Telangana and defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s record in public life.
