Karimnagar steps up measures to prevent road accidents
Karimnagar: Additional Collector Srinivas Reddy has directed officials of various departments to work in coordination and take effective steps to prevent road accidents in the district.
Addressing a Road Safety Committee meeting at the Collectorate conference hall on Friday, Reddy called for regular inspections to identify accident-prone locations and ensure safety measures during road works.
He also instructed officials to issue permissions for hoardings and flexes only as per regulations and without causing inconvenience to commuters.
Reddy reviewed recurring pipeline leakages near the court and bus stand and directed municipal officials to conduct circle-wise inspections and take corrective measures.
Additional DCP Venkataramana presented details of road accidents and hit-and-run cases. RTA member Padala Rahul highlighted traffic problems on the NTR Junction–Padmanagar road and suggested removing tree branches obstructing major roads.
NHAI officials said 99 per cent of the Karimnagar-Warangal road works had been completed and CCTV monitoring, automatic challans, emergency call boxes and signboards were being used to improve safety.
