Black paint cannot hide Congress’ failure, says Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy

BJP National Co-Incharge for Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and former MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy
Khammam: BJP National Co-Incharge for Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and former MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Monday condemned the alleged attempt by Telangana Youth Congress workers to lay siege to the BJP state office here, terming the incident “political hooliganism carried out in the name of protest”.
Reacting to the incident, Sudhakar Reddy speaking to The Hans India on Monday.
He said protesting was a constitutional and democratic right, but alleged that attempting to storm a political opponent’s office and defacing its gates with black colour amounted to intimidation.
“Protest is a constitutional and democratic right. But attempting to storm the office of a political opponent and throwing or applying black colour on its gates is not democracy. It is intimidation and political hooliganism. Congress cannot paint democracy black simply because it disagrees with the BJP,” he said.
The BJP leader said that if the Youth Congress wanted to demand the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, it was free to do so through peaceful and democratic means.
“But who gave them the right to march upon the BJP office and deface its property? Political differences must be fought through arguments, elections and public debate, not through attacks on the offices of political opponents,” he said.
Sudhakar Reddy defended Shah’s record, saying the Union Home Minister had played a “historic role” in strengthening India’s internal security, protecting national unity and taking decisive measures against terrorism and threats to the country’s integrity.
“Neither black flags nor black paint can diminish Amit Shah ji’s contribution to the security and unity of India. Such theatrics will only expose the political frustration of the Congress,” he said.
‘Is this the Congress model of democracy?’
Sudhakar Reddy also questioned the Telangana Congress leadership over the alleged incident and asked whether the Chief Minister and Pradesh Congress Committee leadership would publicly condemn the actions of Youth Congress workers.
“Will the Chief Minister and PCC leadership publicly condemn what happened at the BJP State Office? Or does their silence mean that such behaviour by Youth Congress cadres is acceptable to them?” he asked.
He said a party in government had an even greater responsibility to protect the democratic rights and offices of opposition parties.
“The BJP State Office is not merely a building. It represents lakhs of BJP workers and voters across Telangana. An attempt to intimidate the party through such actions is an insult to democratic political culture itself,” he said.
Government must ensure accountability :
The BJP leader demanded that the Telangana government and police authorities examine the entire incident, including available CCTV and video footage, identify those responsible for any unlawful acts or damage and take appropriate action in accordance with law.
“Law cannot change according to the colour of a party flag. The same law must apply to the ruling party and the opposition,” he said.
He warned that allowing such political behaviour could set a dangerous precedent.
“Today it is the BJP office. Tomorrow, if this political culture is encouraged, the office of any political party can become a target. Every democratic party should therefore condemn such behaviour without hesitation,” he said.
Sudhakar Reddy appealed to BJP workers across Telangana to remain peaceful, disciplined and constitutional and not respond to provocation.
“We will not answer black paint with black paint. We will answer politically. We will answer democratically. And ultimately, the people of Telangana will give the Congress the strongest answer through the ballot,” he said.
