Namburi accuses Congress of spreading misinformation on SIR
Sattupalli (Khammam): TheBJP’s Telangana state spokesperson and Sattupalli constituency in-charge Namburi Ramalingeswara Rao accused the Congress of creating apprehensions among the public over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and urged it to address concerns through evidence-based discussions.
Participating in a democracy protection programme organised under the leadership of Sattupalli town president Banoth Vijay on Monday, Rao met teachers of Sri Chaitanya Techno, Triveni, and KPR Gowtham schools and explained the SIR process and enrolment for MLC elections.
He alleged that instead of informing people about the procedures intended to ensure transparency and accuracy in electoral rolls, the Congress was misleading them for political gain.
Rao said protests, shutdowns and agitations that disrupt economic activities could adversely affect people’s livelihoods. Political parties, he added, should act responsibly and avoid creating fear and confusion among the public.
“If the Congress was genuinely concerned about protecting voters’ rights, it should raise its objections to the SIR process through evidence and constructive debate rather than resorting to actions that could provoke the public,” he said.
Rao reiterated that safeguarding democratic institutions and ensuring peace and stability were collective responsibilities.
BJP district general secretary Naidu Raghava Rao, Chikati Vasantha Rao, Manda Shiva, Vedulla Veerababu, Peddi Raju and Hemanth were among those who attended the programme.
