TTD temple to come up on 20 acres in Khammam

Agriculture and Marketing Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao
Khammam: “A Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple will be constructed on about 20 acres at Allipuram in Khammam under the aegis of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD),” Agriculture and Marketing Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said on Saturday.
The foundation stone-laying ceremony will be held on October 12, he said after inspecting the proposed site along with SUDA chairman Puvvada Durgaprasad, Additional Collector P Srinivasa Reddy and Municipal Commissioner Abhishek Agastya.
Tummala said the temple would be constructed in accordance with Agama Sastra principles and on the lines of the Sri Venkateswara temple model in Amaravati. “The land allocated for the project is valued at around Rs 100 crore,” he said. The minister said the temple, along with the proposed ISKCON Sri Krishna temple and other institutions, would help develop Khammam as a spiritual and tourism destination. He urged devotees, public representatives and community organisations to participate in the foundation ceremony.
Tummala also directed officials to expedite various ongoing development works in Khammam, including the ropeway, cable bridge, medical college and Munneru retaining wall. He also directed officials to take action as per law against illegal mining identified in the Khammam region. Municipal Commissioner Abhishek Agastya said elaborate arrangements would be made for the foundation ceremony.
