Kurnool: The District Medical and Health Department launched the Sustainable Lifestyle Week celebrations (November 1–7) by organizing a formal pledge-taking program at its meeting hall in Kurnool on Sunday.

District Tuberculosis, AIDS, and Leprosy Control Officer Dr Bhaskar, alongside program officers, administered the pledge to healthcare staff, urging them to integrate environment-friendly practices into their daily routines.

Participants pledged to adopt eco-friendly habits, minimize waste, and motivate family members, friends, and colleagues to take individual responsibility for environmental preservation.

Speaking at the event, National Health Mission (NHM) Supervisor Hemalatha outlined the week-long community outreach plan. She stated that medical personnel across Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs will actively educate the public on balanced nutrition, regular physical exercise, water and electricity conservation, reduction of single-use plastics, maintenance of hospital cleanliness, and vector-borne disease prevention.

Healthcare workers will highlight how small lifestyle modifications directly influence environmental and public health outcomes.

Immunisation Officer Dr Uma, District Programme Officer Vijay Raj, Epidemiologist Venugopal Yadav, and staff members from the Communicable Diseases Department participated in the ceremony.

Emphasizing the broader objective of the drive, officials reiterated that fostering sustainable lifestyles through public participation, community mobilization, and individual action is vital for long-term ecological balance and public health protection across the district.

The Sustainable Lifestyle Week activities will continue across all government health facilities in Kurnool district through November 7.
