Mahabubnagar: Former Devarakadra MLA Ala Venkateshwar Reddy has demanded that the Congress government release a white paper on the promises made to Scheduled Tribes (STs) and their implementation.

Speaking to the media at Bhoothpur mandal headquarters on Monday, Reddy said September 17 held special significance for the tribal community in Telangana.

He claimed the previous BRS government, led by K Chandrashekar Rao, had increased ST reservations from 6 to 10 per cent and converted more than 4,000 thandas into gram panchayats.

Reddy said BRS would organise rallies in tribal thandas across Devarakadra constituency on September 17 and conduct milk abhishekam to KCR’s portrait.

He also alleged delays in thanda road works, power shortages affecting farmers and negligence in lifting water from the Srisailam project. He urged the government to stop “vindictive politics” and address public issues.
