Mahabubnagar: Former minister V Srinivas Goud extended his support to National Health Mission (NHM) employees’ protest organised by the NHM Joint Action Committee at the TTD Kalyana Mandapam in Mahabubnagar on Thursday. He criticised the alleged reduction in salaries of contract and outsourced employees and demanded that the government fulfil its election promises by regularising their services.

Addressing the protesters, Goud said that governments generally increased employees’ salaries, but the reduction in remuneration of NHM personnel under the Congress government was unfair and insulting to those serving in the healthcare sector. He demanded the regularisation of contract and outsourcing employees in accordance with the election promises and called for the establishment of a dedicated corporation to pay their salaries instead of routing payments through private agencies.

He said nearly 17,000 NHM doctors, paramedical staff, Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), staff nurses and other support personnel across Telangana played a crucial role in safeguarding the health of around 4.5 crore people. Their services were particularly important in reducing infant mortality and providing better healthcare to pregnant women, he added.

Goud assured the protesting employees of his continued support in their fight for their legitimate demands and urged the government to resolve their issues without delay.

Dr Sunil Kumar, Dr Praveen Kumar, Abhinay, Dr Preeti, Dr Akshaya, Dr Vanaja, Manga, Praveena, Anita and others participated in the protest.
