Mahabubnagar: The Indian Red Cross Society has once again demonstrated its commitment to humanitarian service by extending financial assistance to Venkateshwarlu, a resident of Mahabubnagar, who lost both his legs in an accidental train mishap at Kacheguda railway station in Hyderabad last year.
Venkateshwarlu approached the Indian Red Cross Society seeking financial support to travel to Jaipur and obtain artificial limbs. Responding to his plight, Dr Vishnu Janardhan, a managing committee member of the Indian Red Cross Society, Mahabubnagar branch, donated Rs 50,000 from his personal funds to help him procure artificial legs.
All members of the Red Cross Society’s managing committee participated in the programme and appreciated the humanitarian gesture. The members expressed hope that Venkateshwarlu would soon be fitted with artificial limbs, regain his confidence and resume an independent life.
The Red Cross Society appreciated Dr Vishnu Janardhan for his generosity and reiterated its commitment to supporting people in distress, upholding the motto of humanitarian service.
