Police conducting cordon and search operation in Nellore on Thursday
Nellore: Ahead of local body elections, police have intensified measures to prevent crime, curb anti-social activities, monitor movements of troublemakers and ensure public safety. Around 300 cordon-and-search operations have been conducted across the district so far, stated SP Dr Ajitha Vejendla.
According to her, binding-over cases have been booked against 800 persons across the district on Thursday and police are keeping a close watch on suspicious persons and vehicle movements while identifying individuals, who could potentially disturb public order and taking preventive action against them.
The SP said 44 nomination centres have been identified for local body elections in the district, with 220 police personnel being deployed to maintain security at these locations.
The district police are preparing a comprehensive security plan involving approximately 1,500 police personnel for election duties across the district. Additional forces will be deployed wherever necessary.
SP Ajitha appealed to public, political parties and candidates to strictly adhere to election code of conduct and refrain from activities that could disturb law and order.
