Minister distributes 1,320 bicycles to govt school students
Nellore: MA&UD Minister P Narayana, funded entirely from his own resources, distributed 1,320 bicycles to 770 ninth class students from 11 government high schools in Nellore Rural constituency, at a programme at ZP High School grounds in Dargamitta, Nellore on Thursday.
MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and Narayana Educational Institutions Director Ponguru Sharani were also present. Bicycles were also handed over to another 550 students from KAC College.
Minister Narayana stated that he was providing these bicycles using his personal funds to ensure that underprivileged students would not have to walk to school. He announced a plan to distribute free bicycles worth Rs 6 crore to 10,000 students studying in government high schools across the city and rural areas.
MLA Kotamreddy noted that development works worth Rs 966 crore have been undertaken in Rural constituency with Minister Narayana’s cooperation.
DEO Balaji Rao, TDP State official spokesperson Kotamreddy Giridhar Reddy, Deputy Mayor Rupkumar Yadav and others were also present.
