SHLC project to be completed very soon: Anam Ramanarayana Reddy

Nellore: Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy stated that the coalition government led by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is taking swift measures to complete the Somashila High-Level Canal (SHLC) on top priority and provide irrigation water to Marripadu mandal very soon.

The Minister laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the historical Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy Temple at DC Palli village in Marripadu mandal, being taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 1 crore on Saturday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Anam urged farmers not to harbor any apprehensions regarding water supply. He clarified that nearly 68 per cent of the canal construction had been completed during its initial phase, but the remaining 32 per cent of works were neglected during the previous administration’s tenure.

He asserted that the present coalition government is resolving pending bottlenecks to ensure irrigation water reaches agricultural lands in Marripadu, Udayagiri, and surrounding drought-prone belts. He added that water is already reaching several regions via the Veligonda project and will cover more areas under a structured plan.

Emphasizing temple development, Minister Anam highlighted that special focus has been placed on renovating religious sites in Marripadu mandal since he assumed office.

He revealed that Rs 75 lakh has been sanctioned for reconstructing 15 temples, Rs 4 crore for 11 Srivani-funded temples, and Rs 3.35 crore for three other major shrines across the mandal.

Local public representatives, community leaders, and officials attended the foundation-laying event.
