Nellore: District Collector Himanshu Shukla emphasized that teachers carry a profound responsibility in building a progressive society and shaping future generations.
Speaking at the official Teachers’ Day celebration held at the Collectorate in Nellore on Saturday, Collector Shukla stated that educators do not merely impart academic syllabus but teach children how to think, behave, and grow into compassionate, responsible human beings.
He noted that today’s students will become tomorrow’s doctors, engineers, public representatives, and scientists, making the teacher’s role foundational to national progress. He highlighted that the state government is executing multiple welfare initiatives to ensure quality, equal education across government schools, urging teachers to ensure these benefits reach every student.
Addressing the gathering, MLC Beeda Ravichandra asserted that Education Minister Nara Lokesh is working tirelessly to elevate Andhra Pradesh’s education sector to the top rank nationally.
He revealed that government initiatives have pushed the state’s literacy rate from 72 per cent to 82 per cent, while government schools recorded an influx of 1.06 lakh new students, leading several institutions to display “No Admissions” boards.
Zilla Parishad Chairperson Anam Aruna remarked that teachers hold a deeply revered position in Indian culture and urged educators to provide value-based education alongside academic learning. She called upon students to follow their teachers’ guidance to excel in life.
District Education Officer Dr R Balaji Rao, Samagra Shiksha APC Venkatasubbayya, and senior education officials participated in the program, where Collector Himanshu Shukla felicitated outstanding teachers.
