Ballia: Five individuals, including a former chief medical officer and three doctors from a district hospital, have been booked in Ballia on charges of forgery and other offences following a court order, police said on Friday.

The case was filed at the Kotwali police station in Ballia following a complaint by Jai Nath Ram (64) against the former chief medical officer, the district hospital radiologist Dr Sanjay Kumar Singh, Dr Anand Kumar Singh, Dr RD Ram, and an individual named Rakesh Kumar.

The case has been registered under Sections 419 (punishment for cheating by personation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc.), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), and 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) of the IPC, police said.

Citing the FIR, officials said that the complaint alleges that Rakesh Kumar had previously lodged a case against Jai Nath Ram’s son, Pravindra Kumar, in 2019, accusing him of an attack with the intent to kill, allegedly due to personal enmity. At the time, Pravindra Kumar was a minor. Pursuant to an order from the Juvenile Justice Board, the district hospital determined Pravindra Kumar’s age to be 20 years, and an age certificate was issued by the hospital on January 17, 2022.

However, Rakesh Kumar allegedly used his influence and conspired to tamper with the age certificate, altering the recorded age from 20 years to 22 years, according to officials.
