New Delhi: The Union Cabinet hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of uninterrupted leadership as head of government, first as Gujarat chief minister and later as prime minister, saying his journey was guided by the principle of “Nation First and Citizen First”.

In a resolution adopted at its meeting, the Cabinet said three successive mandates in Gujarat and victories in three Lok Sabha elections reflected the “enduring trust” placed in Modi by the people.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the resolution highlighted 10 features linking Modi’s Gujarat tenure with his leadership as prime minister.

The resolution highlighted Modi’s focus on poverty alleviation, linking his personal experiences with schemes providing housing, water, banking and healthcare. It cited nearly 60 crore Jan Dhan accounts, over four crore houses and 25 crore people moving out of poverty.

Women’s empowerment, youth opportunities, support for farmers and vulnerable tribal communities were also highlighted. The Cabinet cited around 3.5 crore Lakhpati Didis, the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam and PM-KISAN transfers exceeding Rs 4 lakh crore.

The resolution praised Modi’s willingness to undertake politically difficult reforms, including GST and welfare delivery reforms, while promoting cleanliness, digital payments and local products.

It also highlighted infrastructure and self-reliance, noting that public capital expenditure rose from Rs 2 lakh crore to more than Rs 12 lakh crore and electronics production from around Rs 2 lakh crore to over Rs 13 lakh crore. Technology initiatives such as UPI, COVID-19 vaccine development and Chandrayaan-3 were cited as examples of India’s growing capabilities.

The Cabinet also praised Modi’s leadership on national security and diplomacy, citing surgical strikes, Balakot, Operation Sindoor, Article 370’s removal, G20 leadership and India’s Global South outreach.
