Six held in 3 gambling, satta cases in Delhi

New Delhi: Delhi’s North-East District Police have apprehended six persons in three separate cases related to illegal gambling and satta activities, recovering Rs 4,510 in cash, playing cards and other gambling material, officials said on Saturday.

The action was carried out by teams from Nand Nagri, Gokalpuri and Welcome police stations as part of a coordinated drive against illegal gambling and betting activities in the district.

On September 11, Head Constable Jitender Kumar and Constable Sanjay, while patrolling, received information about persons allegedly gambling with playing cards at District Park in A-1 Block, Nand Nagri. Acting on the SHO’s directions, police raided the spot and apprehended Devender, 42, son of Nain Sukh, and Pramod, 28, son of Damodar, both residents of Sunder Nagri. Police recovered Rs 1,170 and playing cards. FIR No. 501/26, dated September 12, was registered under Sections 12/09/55 of the Delhi Gambling Act. Both have no previous criminal involvement and are not bad characters (BCs).

In a separate Gokalpuri case, Head Constable Amit and other personnel received secret information about gambling and satta under a flyover. During the raid, Sonu, 43, son of Noor Mohammad, and Sunil, 45, son of Ramdhani, both residents of Gokalpuri, were apprehended while allegedly attempting to flee. Police recovered Rs 1,030 and playing cards. FIR No. 208/26, dated September 12, was registered under Section 12 of the Gambling Act.

Neither accused has previous criminal involvement or is a BC. In the third case, at around 4:20 pm, Head Constables Subhash and Arun, with Constables Vinod and Ravi, raided Nala Road near Pahalwan Building in Kabir Nagar following information about betting slips and money.

Sudhir Sharma, 49, and Bablu Gupta, 44, both from Babarpur, were apprehended after allegedly trying to flee and throwing cash and slips. Police recovered Rs 2,310 and satta material. FIR No. 491/2026 was registered under Sections 12/9/55. Both have no previous criminal involvement and are not BCs.
