Opposition protests agenda approval at Bodhan Council meet

Nizamabad: Tensions erupted at the Bodhan Municipal general body meeting on Tuesday after opposition councillors protested the unilateral approval of the agenda without allowing them an opportunity to speak.

The meeting, presided over by Municipal Chairperson Thumu Padma, witnessed heated exchanges as BJP and AIMIM councillors objected to being denied the floor to raise civic issues and public grievances.

The opposition members demanded that the agenda be discussed in detail before any decisions were taken, questioning how they could respond to their constituents if they were not permitted to voice their concerns during official deliberations. Their protest led to a heated argument with ruling party members and municipal officials.

The situation intensified when Municipal Commissioner attempted to leave the meeting hall. Councillors led by Vice Chairman Mir Iliyas Ali and BJP floor leader Kollipaka Renuka reportedly gheraoed the official and prevented him from leaving, prompting police to intervene and restore order.
