Ongole: Ongole municipality will celebrate its 150th anniversary with a grand programme at the Mini Stadium on Wednesday. The events will begin at 9 am and end at 10.15 pm with a crackers show.
At a press meet held at Prakasam Bhavan on Tuesday, Ongole Corporation special officer and District Collector P Raja Babu, Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhana Rao, AP Cultural Commission chairperson Podapati Tejaswini, and municipal commissioner T Venkatakrishnaiah shared details of the celebrations. Officials and leaders said the morning session will include cultural shows by local artistes, mandolin music, classical dance, and an audio-visual show on early Ongole. Guests will speak from 11.15 am, followed by awards and felicitations.
A parade and beauty contest of Ongole bulls will be held from 3 pm to 5 pm from the Mini Stadium to Addanki bus stand via Trunk Road. In the evening, 150 women artistes will perform a dance on the glory of Ongole. A souvenir will be released at 8.30 pm, and a live band will perform at 9.15 pm.
