Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan at a gram sabha in Kakavada village of Polavaram district on Sunday
Rajamahendravaram: Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has said the NDA government aims to bring remote tribal villages into the mainstream by improving access to education, healthcare, employment, and markets. On Sunday, the Deputy Chief Minister launched Adavitalli Bata 2.0, announcing road connectivity to 1,341 tribal habitations through 2,569 works costing Rs 2,052 crore.
Speaking at a gram sabha in Kakavada village of Polavaram district, Pawan Kalyan said the initiative would build on the progress made under the first phase, which covered 858 tribal habitations with 1,662 km of roads at a cost of Rs 1,406 crore. The second phase envisages 1,976 km of roads and the construction of 45 bridges.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the lack of roads had kept many tribal settlements away from development for decades. Recounting his visits to tribal areas during his 2018 Porata Yatra, Pawan said he had witnessed at close quarters the difficulties faced by people in reaching hospitals, schools and markets. The coalition government had prioritised road connectivity after assuming office, he added.
As part of the launch, the Deputy Chief Minister unveiled the foundation plaque for 3.4-km BT road connecting Kakavada, Rakota, Suvarlavada, and Vemulakonda villages in Rampachodavaram mandal. The road is being built at an estimated cost of Rs 2.29 crore and is expected to benefit around 1,400 people.
Pawan Kalyan said the government was allocating funds for rural development without political discrimination and called on villagers to monitor the quality of road works. He alleged that the previous YSRCP government had neglected tribal roads while spending public money on party colours and other activities. He said priority should be strengthening village infrastructure and improving people's lives. He highlighted livelihood initiatives, including horticulture development across 85,000 acres benefiting about 83,000 farmers, promotion of coffee cultivation and tourism in tribal areas, and measures to improve mobile connectivity and healthcare facilities.
During an interaction with residents of Rakota, Vemulakonda, Sokulagudem and nearby villages, Pawan directed officials to repair the road between Cheemagandi and Kakavada, examine a request to recognise Rakota as a revenue village and address issues concerning schools and anganwadi centres. He instructed officials to also provide suitable seeds to farmers affected by adverse weather conditions.
Kakinada MP Tangella Uday Srinivas, MLAs Miriyala Sirisha Devi, Pantham Nanaji, senior Panchayat Raj officials and Polavaram District Collector K. Dinesh Kumar attended
the programme.
