Rajamahendravaram: Director general of police Harish Kumar Gupta directed police officials to strengthen advance intelligence and security arrangements to ensure peaceful, safe, and transparent local body elections.
Reviewing preparations for municipal, sarpanch, MPTC and ZPTC polls at the East Godavari district police office, the DGP instructed newly posted and transferred officers to conduct frequent field visits and inspect polling locations. He emphasized preparing tailored security plans, particularly for problematic and sensitive areas, which will be monitored using CCTV and drones.
Gupta mandated preventive binding-over actions against potential troublemakers and urged the quick resolution of pending election-related cases. He also outlined plans for deploying security personnel, route mobiles, and NCC/NSS volunteers to maintain order. Calling for seamless coordination across all levels, the DGP stressed that proactive measures and robust village-level intelligence are essential to preventing untoward incidents and securing the democratic process.
