Rajamahendravaram: BJP State president PVN Madhav has demanded a comprehensive investigation into the alleged liquor scam during the previous YSRCP government and asked former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to answer allegations involving Rs 3,200 crore.
Addressing a media conference in Rajahmundry, Madhav alleged large-scale irregularities in the government’s liquor policy, including recruitment and salaries, transfers, appointments of agencies, liquor procurement and transportation. He questioned why digital payments were allegedly sidelined in favour of cash transactions, why existing distilleries were ignored and new brands were promoted, and why liquor transportation was entrusted to a single transporter. Madhav alleged that brokers were brought into the liquor supply chain and that liquor was sold at high prices. He said the Special Investigation Team (SIT) was probing allegations of kickbacks amounting to about Rs 3,200 crore. Recent reports have also referred to testimony by former APSBCL OSD D Satya Prasad in the ongoing case.
