Rajamahendravaram: Municipal Corporation Commissioner Rahul Meena has stressed that public participation, along with civic body initiatives, is essential to build a clean and healthy city. He was speaking at the Swachh Awards presentation ceremony organised at Sri Venkateswara Anam Kala Kendram here on Friday as part of Rajamahendravaram Swachhotsav-2026. He presented awards to 230 achievers across 22 categories, including employees, students, hospitals, hotels and Rythu Bazaars, in recognition of their outstanding performance in cleanliness and sanitation management. The Commissioner said Rajamahendravaram had a population of around four lakh and generated nearly 160 tonnes of waste every day. Meena cautioned that indiscriminate dumping of garbage and plastic waste on roads, in residential colonies and in public places affected the environment and posed risks to public health. Though sanitation workers were rendering continuous services, achieving complete cleanliness would not be possible without active public cooperation, he observed.

Stating that Rajamahendravaram was performing well in the Swachh Survekshan rankings, he called upon officials and citizens to work together with the same spirit to build a “Clean Rajamahendravaram – Healthy Rajamahendravaram”.

Additional Commissioner PV Ramalingeswar, Secretary G Sailajavalli, Superintending Engineer Rita, Municipal Health Officer Vinuthna, Deputy City Planner Naidu, Executive Engineers Madarsha Ali and Madhavi, award recipients and students attended the programme.
