Govt programmes are only meant to sling mud at me: Harish Rao

Siddipet: Former minister and BRS MLA T Harish Rao said on Friday alleged that the government is taking up programmes only to throw mud at him. He had disclosed all assets in the affidavit submitted during the elections.

Interacting with the media here, Rao said media representatives should visit his farm land and verify facts regarding the allegations being made. He would arrange lunch for the media for one day and show them the actual situation. He requested them to see facts and explain them to the public.

Rao clarified that there is nothing on his land except agriculture. ‘There are no luxurious constructions. The allegations being made against him are baseless’.

He explained that he purchased one acre for the first time in 2018 and later bought more land in phases. By 2024, he had purchased 13 acres. All details of land purchases are officially recorded. He added that during the Congress tenure, officials themselves marked the boundaries of his land. Officials surveyed and clearly demarcated the land.

Rao said no special road was laid for his land. He clarified that the new road was built in the same place where the old one existed. The road construction was carried out under the Irrigation department, not with the Siddipet Urban Development Authority funds. The old road was damaged due to project works, so a new one was built. He asserted that it was not a road constructed exclusively for him.

He questioned whether people would tolerate it if he threatened anyone. People are observing everything. He alleged that political attempts are being made to smear his image.
