In Short
Samurtarchanadhikaranam guides the ritual procedure

The processional deities of Lord Venkateswara Swamy adorned for the celestial vehicle service along the Mada Streets during the Srivari Navaratri Brahmotsavams at Tirumala on Sunday evening
Tirumala: Srivari Navaratri Brahmotsavams at Tirumala, scheduled from October 12 to 20, commenced on a grand spiritual note on Sunday evening with the traditional Ankurarpanam ceremony.
Senadhipati Sri Vishvaksena led a ceremonial procession along the four Mada Streets, symbolically inspecting the arrangements for the celestial festival. Later, the Ankurarpanam ritual was performed in the Yagashala strictly in accordance with the Vaikhanasa Agama traditions. Sacred seeds are sown with the sankalpa that the nine-day Brahmotsavams may be celebrated successfully and with the divine blessings of Sri Venkateswara Swamy.
The healthy sprouting of these seeds is considered an auspicious sign for the grand and successful conduct of the festival.
Invoking the blessings of Brahma, Garuda, Sesha, Sudarsana, Vakratunda, Soma, Shanta, Indra, Isana and Jaya through sacred fire rituals, the priests fill the palikas with soil after praying to Bhudevi. The seeds are then sown while invoking the blessings of Moon, followed by the sprinkling of water.
The palikas - mud pots were adorned with new cloth, after which Punyahavachanam was performed.
Recitations of the Somaraja Mantra, Varuna Mantra and Vishnu Suktam add to the sanctity of the occasion.
The procedure for Ankurarpanam was detailed by Maharshi Atri in his treatise, Samurtarchanadhikaranam.
TTD Executive Officer Muddada Ravichandra, Additional EO Ch Venkaiah Chowdary, CVSO Muralikrishna, Temple Deputy EO Bhaskar and other officials participated in the ceremony.
