Tirupati: The Southern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh Limited (APSPDCL) is expediting rooftop solar installations for SC and ST households while fast-tracking agricultural electricity sanctions across its nine-district jurisdiction, announced Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Siva Sankar Lotheti on Monday.
Chairing a high-level video conference with discom officials in Tirupati to review progress under the PM-KUSUM scheme and field-level solarisation initiatives, CMD Lotheti stated that rooftop solar systems have been successfully installed in 1.31 lakh SC and ST households so far, with 1.01 lakh units already integrated into the power grid.
He instructed field teams, administrative staff, and contractors to coordinate closely with line departments to resolve bottlenecks and complete all pending household connections without delay.
Additionally, officials were urged to adhere strictly to project deadlines for feeder-level solarisation under the PM-KUSUM scheme, ensuring the discom provides uninterrupted, quality nine-hour daytime power to agricultural consumers.
Turning to rural electrification, the CMD mandated that new agricultural connections must be sanctioned promptly and strictly according to application seniority. He warned that any procedural deviations, deliberate delays, or rule violations during the sanctioning process would invite strict disciplinary measures against errant staff. Emphasizing operational accountability, Lotheti reiterated APSPDCL’s commitment to advancing green energy and supporting rural livelihoods.
The review meeting witnessed the participation of key discom executives, including directors P Ayub Khan and K Guravaiah, alongside Chief General Managers, General Managers, and senior operational engineers from across the nine operational districts.
