Tirupati: Municipal Corporation Commissioner M Jayakrishna has directed all officials and staff to discharge their election duties with utmost care, responsibility and transparency in the upcoming general elections to Tirupati Municipal Corporation.
He chaired a review meeting with Returning Officer (RO), Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) and other officials concerned at Municipal Corporation office here on Wednesday to assess the preparedness for the conduct of urban local body elections.
Addressing the gathering, the Commissioner said the State Election Commission has already approved appointment of ROs and AROs for civic polls. He described the election process as highly critical and emphasised that the credibility and fairness of the entire exercise depend largely on the performance of these key functionaries. Jayakrishna announced that comprehensive training will be imparted to all officials and staff involved in election work.
He instructed senior officers to provide proper guidance and close supervision to the teams working under them to ensure smooth and error-free operations. The Commissioner directed officials to expedite first phase of election preparations, particularly identification and finalisation of polling stations.
He also asked them to regularly monitor the State Election Commission website to stay updated with the latest instructions, notifications and guidelines. Additional Commissioner Sarada Devi, Deputy Commissioner Amaraiah, Tahsildar Suresh Babu, ACP Murthy, various department heads, ROs and AROs, participated.
