Tirupati: Social Welfare Minister Dr Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy held a review meeting with officials of the Social Welfare Department, Swarna Gramam, Swarna Ward and the Welfare of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens departments of Tirupati, Chittoor and Annamayya districts in Tirupati on Sunday.

Speaking at the meeting, the minister said the coalition government was providing quality education along with better facilities and amenities to students in welfare hostels.

He directed officials to ensure that all students received the facilities being provided by the government, including sports dresses, night dresses, shoes and towels. He said officials and staff should work with the aim of achieving 100 percent pass results in Class 10 and Intermediate examinations. The minister asked officials to prepare a special plan from now itself to improve students’ academic performance. He directed them to regularly monitor the progress of students and provide the required support wherever necessary.

He also instructed officials to give special attention to the health and safety of students. Regular monitoring should be carried out in welfare hostels to ensure cleanliness, quality food and proper basic infrastructure, he said.

The minister directed officials to focus on the Excellence Centre at Kothala and take steps to improve its performance. He also stressed the need to give special priority to the health care of transgender persons. Officials were asked to organise special medical camps for them and provide necessary medical services.

The minister directed officials of all departments to work in coordination and ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes reached every eligible person.
