Tirupati: The Telugu Desam Party-led NDA alliance achieved a resounding landslide victory in the Tirupati Municipal Corporation elections, capturing 60 out of 66 council divisions and securing the prestigious Mayor’s post.

In the high-stakes Mayoral contest, TDP leader Manne Srinivasa Prasad, popularly known as JB Srinivas, defeated YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) candidate Y Vasudeva Yadav by a massive margin of 61,712 votes.

The decisive win grants the NDA complete administrative control over the temple city’s civic governance body. Out of the total 66 municipal divisions, the TDP won 38 seats—comprising 36 contest victories and 2 uncontested wins. Alliance partner Janasena Party secured 19 divisions, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 3 seats, establishing an overwhelming 60-seat majority for the alliance.

Conversely, the main opposition YSRCP suffered a severe debacle, managing to retain just 3 divisions. Independent candidates clinched the remaining 3 seats, while the Congress failed to open its account.

The municipal election was held on November 1, recording a turnout of 47 percent—the lowest polling percentage among municipal corporation elections conducted across Andhra Pradesh. Following the declaration of results, Mayor-elect JB Srinivas assured that the NDA administration will prioritize key civic challenges facing the pilgrimage hub.

Immediate operational focus will center on improving city sanitation, upgrading internal road networks, expanding storm-water drainage, alleviating urban traffic congestion, and ensuring uninterrupted drinking water supply for both residents and millions of visiting pilgrims.

Jubilant alliance leaders and cadre celebrated the victory across Tirupati with rallies and sweet distribution.
