Tirupati: APSCHE Vice-Chairman Prof S Vijaya Bhaskar Rao said that researchers should take their work beyond books and academic publications and turn their findings into products, patents and technological solutions that benefit society.
He was speaking at the inaugural session of the two-day international conference on Research Innovations in Science, Technology and Management (RISTAM-2026) at Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) on Monday. He also stressed the need to strengthen university-industry linkages and make effective use of private and industrial funding to promote research and innovation.
SPMVV Vice Chancellor Prof V Uma said the university was encouraging multidisciplinary research and innovation in line with the priorities of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Such efforts would also help enhance the employability skills of students, she said.
The conference is being organised jointly by the Department of Home Science, SPMVV, and the Departments of Microbiology, Biotechnology and Food Technology, Bangalore University, in collaboration with the Nutrition Society of India (NSI), Tirupati Chapter, with support from the PM-USHA MERU Grant.
Scientists, academicians and delegates from Vietnam, Egypt, Rome, Thailand and other countries are participating in the conference. More than 300 researchers and students are expected to present their research papers during the two-day event.
Former UN-FAO Deputy Director-General Dr Daniel John Gustafson, UGC Deputy Secretary Lieutenant Commander Vinod Singh Yadav (Retd), CFTRI scientist Dr Shruti Joshi and Prince of Songkla University Vice-President Dr Montira Leelakriangsak also addressed the gathering.
Bangalore University Registrar K T Shanthal, SPMVV Registrar Prof R Usha, Conference Chair Prof N Rajani, Head of the Department Prof M Aruna and others participated in the programme.
