Vijayawada: A 2K Run was organised on BRTS Road here on Sunday to mark the 11th National Ayurveda Day and create awareness about fitness, wellness and preventive healthcare.
Sri Gayatri Ayurvedic Multi-Speciality Centre and Rotary Vijayawada Midtown jointly organised the run. K Vijayanand, Special Chief Secretary, Energy Department, was the chief guest and flagged off the run at 7 am.
Speaking on the occasion, Vijayanand said regular exercise, a balanced diet, a disciplined daily routine and preventive healthcare were essential for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He appreciated the organisers for conducting the run to spread awareness about health and wellness on the occasion of National Ayurveda Day.
He called upon people to make walking, running and regular physical exercise part of their daily routine.
He also stressed the importance of adopting the holistic approach of Ayurveda and giving priority to preventive healthcare rather than seeking treatment only after falling ill.
People from different age groups, Rotary members, families and fitness enthusiasts participated enthusiastically in the run with the message “Run for Health - Run for Wellness”.
The organisers also highlighted the theme “Healthier Minds | Stronger Bodies | A Brighter Tomorrow”.
