Vijayawada: Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner HM Dhyanachandra directed officials of all departments to work in coordination and make foolproof arrangements for the distribution of house-site pattas at Makineni Basavapunnaiah (MBP) Stadium in Ajith Singh Nagar on September 30.
The Commissioner inspected the arrangements at the stadium during his extensive field-level tour of the city on Monday.
He directed officials to complete all arrangements well in advance and ensure that there were no shortcomings in providing basic amenities, sanitation, road facilities and other infrastructure for the programme. He instructed officials to ensure that people attending the programme did not face any inconvenience and asked them to conduct advance inspections at the venue and immediately address any issues identified.
During his city tour, Dhyanachandra inspected sanitation, road conditions, greenery on road dividers and beautification works at several locations, including Mahatma Gandhi Road, Labbipet, Kaleswara Rao Market, Seethammavari Padalu, Prakasam Barrage, Kaleswara Rao Flyover, Tummalapalli Kalakshetram Road, the old Government General Hospital Road, Eluru Road, Government Press area, Ajith Singh Nagar, Daba Kotla Centre and Bhagat Singh Road.
The Commissioner directed engineering officials to identify potholes on major and interior roads and take up repairs immediately to ensure safe and convenient travel for motorists and the public.
He also instructed sanitation staff to prevent accumulation of garbage on roads and maintain cleanliness continuously. He called for special attention to greenery on road dividers, directing officials to replace dried plants and plant new saplings wherever required.
He said coordinated efforts should be made to maintain the development and beautification works on a regular basis and make the city cleaner and more pleasant. Additional Commissioner (Projects) Dr D Chandrasekhar, Zonal Commissioners Srinivas and K Prabhudas, Chief Engineer P Satyakumari, Chief Medical Health Officer Dr Ch Nirmala Glory, Executive Engineers Jai Srinivas and Gopalakrishnamurthy, Assistant Medical Health Officer Dr P Annapurna, RFO Ch Ratnababu, SFO Naresh, ACP Murali Goud, DCP Chandrabose, Estate Officer A Sridhar and other staff were present.
