Vijayawada: Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner HM Dhyanachandra directed officials to take measures to keep the city’s roads pothole-free and maintain a clean and attractive urban environment.
During his field inspection of Eluru Road on Wednesday, the Commissioner reviewed potholes and road repair works, sanitation arrangements and greenery along road dividers. He instructed officials to immediately take up repairs wherever defects were identified to prevent inconvenience to commuters.
Dhyanachandra directed officials to ensure that manholes were maintained at road level and to regularly monitor underground drainage systems to prevent sewage overflow. Later, the Commissioner inspected the Anna Canteen at Dharna Chowk and directed officials to improve its maintenance and keep the surroundings clean.
He said regular monitoring should be undertaken to provide people visiting the canteen with a clean and pleasant environment and any shortcomings should be rectified immediately.
Zonal Commissioner K Prabhudas, Chief City Planner K Sanjay Ratna Kumar, Executive Engineer Gopalakrishna Murthy, Deputy Director of Horticulture Chandrasekhar, Assistant Medical Health Officer Dr P Anupurna and other staff accompanied the Commissioner.
