Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will offer silk robes to Goddess Sri Kanaka Durga on behalf of the State government on Friday at 4 pm, coinciding with the auspicious Moola Nakshatram, as part of the ongoing Dasara Sharannavaratri celebrations at the Indrakeeladri temple here.

As the presiding deity will appear in the divine Alankaram of Sri Saraswati Devi on the sixth day of the festivities, a large number of devotees are expected to visit the hill shrine. In view of the anticipated rush, the temple authorities have decided to give priority to ordinary devotees by operating all queue lines exclusively for free darshan.

Endowments Commissioner K Ramachandra Mohan, temple trust board chairman Borra Radhakrishna (Gandhi) and Executive Officer VK Seena Naik jointly announced the special arrangements to facilitate devotees on the auspicious occasion.

According to the decision, Antaralaya darshans, protocol darshans and recommendation-based visits will remain suspended on Friday. All devotees will be allowed to have darshan of Sri Saraswati Devi from the Mukha Mandapam to ensure the smooth movement of pilgrims and provide an opportunity for ordinary devotees to worship the Goddess.

The temple authorities have also imposed restrictions on vehicle movement to prevent traffic congestion on the hill. Private vehicles will not be allowed uphill, while all previously issued vehicle passes, including service passes, will be temporarily kept on hold. Only official vehicles engaged in emergency duties will be permitted, the authorities said.
