Vijayawada: Former Gannavaram MLA Dr Dasari Venkata Balavardhana Rao has been selected for the chairman post of Krishna District Milk Producers Mutually Aided Cooperative Union Limited, popularly known as Vijaya Dairy, according to sources.
The party leadership reportedly selected Dr Balavardhana Rao following directions from Chief Minister and TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh.
Dr Balavardhana Rao, who is currently a board director, has been functioning as the acting chairman for the past few days following the resignation of Chalasani Anjaneyulu.
The Vijaya Dairy board is scheduled to meet on September 22, when Dr Balavardhana Rao is expected to be formally elected as chairman and assume charge. Anjaneyulu, who was re-elected as the chairman, resigned for the post following discussions with Ministers Kolusu Parthasarathy and Kollu Ravindra.
According to sources, MLAs from Krishna and NTR districts reportedly expressed their support for Dr Balavardhana Rao during a zoom meeting with Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra. Later, the Minister said to have conveyed the decision to TDP leadership as well as the directors of Milk Union.
Following his selection for the post of Vijaya Dairy chairman, Dr Dasari Venkata Balavardhana Rao performed special pujas at Sri Lakshmi Tirupatamma Temple at Old Gannavaram. Several TDP leaders and others congratulated him on the occasion.
