Vijayawada: District Police Commissioner SV Rajasekhar Babu on Tuesday inspected and launched the District Mobile Forensic Vehicle allotted to the NTR District Police Commissionerate to strengthen scientific investigation of crimes.
The mobile forensic vehicles have been introduced as part of the implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, to make forensic evidence collection more effective during criminal investigations. Recently, State Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta launched 26 such vehicles, one for each district.
During his visit to the vehicle at the Police Commissioner’s Office, Rajasekhar Babu, along with Administrative DCP KGV Saritha and other police officials, examined the scientific equipment and the procedures for collecting and processing evidence. The vehicle is equipped with modern scientific instruments, LCD screens and other facilities required for collecting physical evidence at crime scenes. It can facilitate preliminary examinations of blood samples and other evidence at the scene and provide initial analysis reports, helping investigators proceed with cases more efficiently.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajasekhar Babu said the mobile forensic facility would help police make greater use of technology in crime investigation and ensure speedy justice to victims. District Forensic Coordination Officer and Inspector KV Krishna Kumar, Fingerprint Inspector Praveen Kumar, fingerprint personnel and crime scene staff participated in the programme.
Meanwhile, Police Commissioner SV Rajasekhar Babu, along with Administrative DCP KGV Saritha and AR DCP B Satyanarayana, inaugurated a free mega medical camp at the AR Grounds in Vijayawada.
The camp was organised jointly by the NTR District Police Commissionerate and Andhra Hospitals, with support from Star Health Insurance, for police officers, personnel and their family members. Chief cardiologists Dr Tirupati Rao and Dr Raghu Ram, general medicine specialist Dr Ravi Kumar and other experienced doctors examined
the police personnel.
